how it started…

Born and raised in Juneau, AK, Clayton's childhood revolved around the water. At the age of 5 he started spending the summers with his father commercial fishing and from that point on, he knew a life on the water was in his future.

After returning from college where he studied economics at UAA, Clayton jumped back into fishing. For the last 14 years he has co-captained on the F/V Seaview, longlining for sablefish and halibut, pot fishing for sablefish, seining for salmon, and crabbing. On top of his fishing experience, Clayton has done an extensive amount of contract work with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) and other private organizations. Conducting research charters and different contracted work on the boat brings new variables, challenges, and a different pace, something he really enjoys. The extensive knowledge he has obtained over the years of being on the water is invaluable.

During off-seasons, Clayton honed additional skills in construction and welding, discovering a particular passion for welding—a field where his proficiency grew alongside his maritime expertise.

Clayton was ready to start a new adventure, so along came Morsa Marine. He is bringing together all the knowledge he has acquired over and years and starting this new business. There is still so much to learn, and so many more opportunities out there that he is ready and excited for. Clayton is not one to back down from a problem, and always finds solutions. Morsa Marine gives Clayton the opportunity to bring all of his experience together to help serve you.

Clayton is married to Jess and they have two beautiful pups, Wallie the Redbone Coonhound, and Willa the Mini Aussie.
